General resumes work on Epic Universe following Covid-19 closure

Work is continuing on the new Universal Orlando Resort's Epic Universe following a stoppage following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Work on the recreation center stopped in July, as the organization changed plans amidst the pandemic.

The restart will start promptly – yet is required to require a while prior to arriving at max throttle as Universal re-staffs for the venture and reassembles its merchant and project worker groups.

Restarting Epic Universe will bring about many positions inside Universal and a huge number of occupations across focal Florida.

These positions incorporate exceptionally gifted proficient positions, all degrees of development occupations and past.

The Epic Universe venture will mix billions of dollars into the Florida economy – and furthermore make in excess of 14,000 lasting positions notwithstanding the great many positions that will be made during its turn of events.

Notice

"The restart of development of Epic Universe is a spectacular second for our representatives and for our amusement park business in Florida," said Brian Roberts, CEO of Comcast Corporation.

"It is our single-biggest interest in the state and addresses our energy for the staggering park and the financial chances it will produce."

Epic Universe will include another amusement park, a diversion place, lodgings, shops, cafés and then some.

It will be situated on a 750-section of land site that almost duplicates Universal's all out accessible grounds in Florida.

It will be found a couple of miles from Universal Orlando's present amusement parks in Southwest Orange County – explicitly, south of Sand Lake Road and east of Universal Boulevard.

"We are eager to start work on Epic Universe again and for how this second affects our industry, our local area, our business and our colleagues," said Tom Williams, CEO for Universal Parks and Resorts.

"Our trust in our aggregate future is as solid as could be expected."

Love Bali

http://dpwallpaper.com/

Hay guys... i'm still in front of my apartment right now and waiting for uber to go to the airport I'm going to Bali oh i forgot to mention that I'm going to Bali guys!

Thank you, Sir i'm at the airport already guys, at terminal 3 and i'm waiting for boarding at Starbucks actually i should've been on board since 30 mins ago but it got delayed and it rarely happened for Garuda anyways I'm gonna do my makeup coz look my skin is kinda breaking out right now

so I'm gonna put some makeup on hm, I look ready without makeup since I got my brows microbladed and I have eyelash extensions on we're inside the airplane already Hi Steph we made it to Bali, finally so we're going to...

Wait why so dark so now we're going to Magali Pascal, it's like a store hey they have bikinis too here we're just gonna window-shop ok guys so now we're going to the place where we're gonna stay the night at which is located in Pecatu

the place is... kinda in the middle of nowhere though no cellphone service and no room service so we don't know how we're gonna survive there but the place looked very nice, it looks like bubble yeah we're gonna show you guys later now we're still on our way, the traffic is pretty bad it's 4 pm now and we're supposed to get there at 5 pm at the latest and we're starving i'm sooo hungry

so yeah, we'll update again later we went to to Seminyak real quick by the way just to pick up swimming suit ok byeee okay guys, so this is our tour guide, Wayan his name is Wayan, and we're all now heading to...

Where? to out of nowhere so this place is very very private, we didn't think it was gonna be like this and we're like, wait... our trip today was so romantic we're adventurous people yes we are.

now we're going down right? yes, going down to the beach? yup to the beach what is it called again? it's Nunggalang Beach Nunggalang Beach.

we're located in Pecatu Oh wait is it Pecatu or Uluwatu? It's Pecatu. Uluwatu is next to it. Ok we're in Pecatu.

And this is called Villa Plenuli.. Plen.. well, i'm not really sure what it's called but one of my best friends got married here Alright, let's just record our journey.

I'm looking for my phone! maybe you left it? nope got it! okay, let's go! so if you open this side, that side has to be closed oh I see and this has to be closed it kinda looks different from the picture so this is the toilet this is so funny and there is a shower too guys we're here already, you saw our journey to get here and...

to be honest with you, this is not what we expected i swear it looked sooo much better on the picture yeah it's different it looked bigger in the picture yes, there were a lot of stuffs too inside uh-huh.

And this one only has a mattress , that's it it's litteraly for a honeymoon couple are we on honeymoon or what? honeymoon this is gonna be our last holiday together huh? bitter-moon.

So yeah we are basically going to camp in that bubble it's still cute though really cute, but it's just very different from the picture coz our expectation was pretty high, but the view is beautiful though yes we have this beautiful beach, look oops there's my leg it would be more beautiful if we have a boyfriend exactly! it all depends on who you spend the night with hey did you mean you don't like spending it with me?! not like that, i like it but the thing is you're not my boyfriend ok I will let you know again how we're doing here and we have no lights for tonight huh?

no i don't think so there is no light at all guys... alright guys I will be back we're gonna rest now and enjoy the view, see ya! okay guys, hello! we have changed our plan so we decided we're not gonna stay here tonight we're too scared coz we're kinda scared this place is so private but apparently, not that private since there are still so many fishermen passing by and we're not comfortable because our bubble tent can't be locked and very transparent

and we're just not comfortable with the people passing by all the time we're gonna have to hike all the way back when it's dark already it's crazy...

It's okay the tour guide will go with us oh yeah right we kinda feel insecure and not safe to be by ourselves so we better go coz we saw the reviews about this place from Airbnb and people who rented this place were mostly newlyweds actually we won't mind if we have at least a guy here with us but we don't,

it's only us girls so we're kinda scared alright guys i'm just gonna find a hotel now with Steph too, we're gonna find a place to stay that's not too far from here hey guys,

so now we are inside this bubble place while waiting for our dinner time it's so weird it's so weird sorry Vinna it's very noisy in here what kind of noise is that? oh that's the noise of the air to blow in the air to the bubble so we can breathe, or else, we c ould be dead and then we don't have any light at all i don't understand we're using flashlight from our phone i don't get it...

No we're using the moonlight where's the moon? oh right there I even said this to Steph when people come here for honeymoon it's just soo dark how do they even find 'the hole'?! (LOL) hey, x-rated oh yeah, sorry underage kids!

Okay, we are finally at the hotel no i didn't bring my ID just use your passport passport? yes passport so we went all the way up from the beach it was really...

I think it took us 30 mins and it was super dark no lights at all and Steph caught someone pooping, under the tree Steph, how was it? did it ruin your night? well, it can't be unseen so now we're on our way out from the hotel we are going to find something to eat that we don't even know where we are going but the tour guide said just go all the way, and we will find restaurants and stores on the left side alright guys,

I will be back when we already find the right way we did get a pretty "hard road" since we got here okay guys, bye it's not that busy, it's getting late already let's sit there in the corner we are here at the restaurant i think this place is interesting let's sit side by side, it's more romantic good evening, sir the food is finally here the portion is big! why is mine so big? what did you order?

Aglio Olio I ordered Betutu Chicken Alright, let's eat! okay guys now we're in the cab in the cab we're on our way back to it's out of focus we're on the way to..

What's wrong with this? i don't know why..I really don't know maybe it's just our faces yeah i think so, they need a little more touch, you know this thing won't focus so now we're on the way are you annoyed watching this?

ok wait a second okay there *cough* so we almost make it to the hotel we are going to take a bath blow dry our hair, and then go to sleep i don't think we're gonna go anywhere after this no, right? nope we're very tired and now it's out of focus again, it's ok it's ok don't you have to press it?

this is so annoying what happened? it's weird so yeah, we're almost there it's gonna be on the right *burp* ok guys, I just wanted to update you all I ate Betutu Chicken, it was ok but yeah ok, it wasn't like 'OHH SO GOOD!" but ok this hotel is pretty nice, we're gonna stay at the TS suites yess let's go yaaayy OH MY GOODNESS look at how,

oh my God, man this.. this place is very nice so nice oh my goodness yeah it's so cute guys, one of my favorite things to do is actually going to the bathroom? no, staying at a nice hotel seriously.

If you want to give me a birthday present you can give me a hotel room to stay the nice one though seriously, I would be so happy yeah but staying just by myself is pretty sad huh?

ok, now we're gonna take turn to shower I need to wash my hair blow dry my hair, they have hair dryer right? i love the bath tub so much! so cute it won't focus again...

SHOPPING IN BALI

https://hello-pet.com

Good morning guys, it's Saturday and it is our last Saturday in Bali. We leave on Monday. So today we are heading out for lunch and then I am gonna go and do some dress shopping. There is lots of really good shopping here in Bali.

You can get some really really pretty stuff for really cheap. I need to get a dress, I need to get pants...maybe we will see if I can get like something else depending on how money goes. Do you have any predictions? Uh, yes. Too much. Yes, I've already been told that he is expecting me to come home with far too much money, and I was actually saying the other day - Too many clothes, not too much money. Freudian slip! Are you stealing clothes? Maybe I will come back with too much money! Yes, I've already been told that he is expecting me to come back with more items than I am allowed to get because I - Not that you are allowed to get, that you say you want and need. Yeah, I do want and need things, I do.

Like, OK, I love this dress right, you've seen me wear it before, this one. But, it keeps tearing, like it's getting old so like I actually really I will get like tears down the middle of it and stuff. I am going to leave it here because it's obviously on it's last legs but I need a dress to replace it and he believes I will come with more than one dress so we will see. I saw that. Anyway, enough of that, let's actually go and do this. I'm not going dress shopping. No. Oh yeah, I'm leaving him at the bar to watch the footy while I go dress shopping.

Oh no, how awful! Darling! What's in there? Do you want to get in the bin? OK so we are at Barb's now and just having lunch and I have mie goreng with tofu which is really nice here. I'm going now. OK. Stay here in husband creche, alright? Bye. So I'm heading down to Hardy's first because they have a ton of clothing there and it's all labelled, so I want to get an idea of what their prices are like before I go and barter on the street. Also I'll show you more of my dress right, so there's my dress and here's my shoes. Hang on, I'm gonna turn the camera around. So here's my shoes.

So they're nice and strappy right, and OK, the thing is I'm not a girly girl. Like, please don't think just coz I'm going dress shopping today that I'm actually into this stuff. Like look at my hair and how frizzy it is. Every day I don't wear make up. I've got mascara on today just coz I felt like it. I have earrings on but usually when I"m, you know, doing my computer stuff I don't have any on.

Yeah, I am not a girly girl. I own three pairs of shoes. These strappy ones, runners and walking sandals. Because I have a fair bit of ground to cover today, husband dearest suggested that I put my walking sandals on. But I'm wearing a dress. Like, you don't wear walking sandals with a dress. So I have to wear my strappies. So they're not the comfiest but I have to wear them. You understand, ladies. OK, I'm in Hardy's now so I'm looking at all the clothing stuff on the bottom floor but the entire top floor is all clothing so I'm going to head up there as well.

I've been taking a look at this dress basically every time we've come upstairs in the whole two months we've been here. Like, look at it. How pretty is it! And this one here's pretty good too. I don't know how much they are though. OK, 73, that's not bad! That was very interesting. Some of the dresses were pricier than I expected and others were way cheaper. So I'm just actually heading down to the beach now. We'll see, I hope it's not too windy on the beach.

We'll just see how it goes. Hello Karyn! Hi, hi Sarah! How are you? I'm good, how are you? Yes, thank you very much you know to come to my shop. Oh, my pleasure! I was on my way to the beach and I met Sarah so now I'm in her shop looking at all her beautiful clothes. All my friends on Facebook, they know that I'm shopping and they want to see what I'm looking at. Yes, and then you can show off mine, you know! Yeah, of course! Yeah. And I give you my card. Yes, thank you! So Sarah and me just found out she lives right almost next to where I'm staying. Behind to BAWA, yeah! Yeah! The Lila, that one. Behind the temple, behind the temple mine! So there is Lila and the temple...

Lila, you can see, because on the top you can see the temple there, this is my place! Yeah! Aw, that is so cool. I was meant to come here. OK guys I'm also shopping for my niece and nephew. Hopefully, to my sister if you are watching this one, hmmmm, which one do you like better? OK so this is what I'm getting, so I'm getting the little one for my niece. And this for you. And this top is for me. Oh yes. OK, I spent far too much there, far too much.

So now I have to, with the money I have left I have to get a top for my nephew and a dress for myself. What I'm gonna do now, I'm gonna head down the beach. There was a shop that I wanted to look at but to be honest with you, I'm worried that I don't have enough money now so I'm gonna go to this place where the woman told me last weekend or the weekend before that she had dresses for $5. So fingers crossed.

Let's go see if I can find her. I just remembered also, I was supposed to buy a pair of pants. Oops. OK, they all drive a hard bargain. So yeah, I think I have found the best price though. I don't want to cause trouble with the girls. The lady who has the best price, she's actually not at her shop at the moment so her mum has gone to find her and I'm actually hiding so that the other women, because they walk up and down the beach, I don't want them to see me because I told them that I would come back to them and I don't want them to be mad at this girl.

So yeah, just waiting. OK guys, this is the one I've gone with. So just imagine I'm not wearing another dress underneath. And this is 100K. Yes. Yes. Very good. The best price I've found on the beach. OK. Shop 87. Yes. And here's the lovely Jess. Miss Crazy Jess. Well I hope you guys like the dress that I got because I certainly do. The $5 dresses that I thought were up the other end of the beach, the lady who first quoted me $5 a couple of weeks ago, she was now saying like 250,000 which is $25.

So, yeah. And I thought, oh I'm not going to even bargain cos I don't know if you're going to come down that much so, yeah. But then I found Jess. The dresses that she is selling there for 100K are beautiful, absolutely beautiful. So what I'm doing now, I'm walking actually back through Besakih to the main street. Not a bad haul for what I've spent. I'm gonna go back to the main street because I saw a really cute little singlet that I want to get for my nephew and I hope I have enough money. If not I'm sure that we will be able to find the extra, so yeah I'm just gonna go see if I can find that and I'm not going to be able to get myself pants.

That's ok, I'll just have to get some cheap ones in Melbourne. All things considered I think, yeah, not a bad day. OK so I picked the taller half up from husband creche, I don't know where he is now and we found the little singlet that I was looking at before. Here it is. Cute! OK guys, so here's my dress so I'll step back a little bit. So that's what it looks like without another dress underneath it. So yeah. I think I need to adjust the straps a bit to make it look a bit better around the boobs but it's really comfortable.

It's so comfortable and that's what I wanted, just like a comfy summer dress so yeah. Anyway if you enjoyed going on this little shopping trip with me please hit the like button. Please comment, let me know what you thought. Subscribe if you haven't already and follow me on all my social media which is down below and I'll see you next time. Bye!.

Mount Batur Bali

https://balijungletrekking.files.wordpress.com

Sunrise here There's some lava We were a little bit worried because it's all gone quiet now 1:52am One of them shoots out a load of hot lava Hey buddy I don't know what it is.

We are on route to a volcano ouch! update from the volcano we're a little bit worried we are not going to make it for sunrise again. Classic. Crater is to the left. There is smoke coming out of the floor.

Real-life..... smoke... Steam steam - steam - steam, not smoke I thought there was someone smoking down there. Sunrise over here there is a few people around. we don't know whether the rest of the group are.

I think they might have fallen in the crater. Just found these guys. They were slacking. almost missed the sunrise. See this. So many people. We're gonna venture over to somewhere different.

Somebody told me you can cook eggs over here This is more like it. What's going on over here. Eggs! Stop. Yeah. I think you are strong. Get the banana out not mine. We can't eat the banana I've always wanted to come to Tracy island.

Little bit dissapointed not to see thunderbird one two three or four. But my brief liaison with Lady Penelope was more than pleasurable they're making their way down into a crater We're left the ridge.

it's straight down. Making our way down apparently two newest crater formed like 20 years ago 1990 something brain's a little slow this morning we're about halfway down it'll go a little bit worried a little about two minutes ago Terry went over the edge we're not entirely sure where she is.

breaking news i'm sorry to say Andy and went looking for terry we've now lost Andy as well. Quite a big cry. Eruption. 1999-2000 Thermal vent; We came down this extra trail. We paid the guide to bring us down here. newly erupted. we're now like the only group down here not even eight o'clock at and we're on a volcano we're now running down the volcano We've got to keep this a bit hush hush.

No telling anyone not sure if it's because you're not meant to come this way because we paid extra and he's going to get the money out how you feeling? - Feeling good actually. Just don't want to end It's been the best morning. climbed a volcano.

well thank you sir. it was good. Have a good day.

Travel tip to Bali island

https://seword.com
G’day there, Scotty Boxa here and these are my top travel tips for Bali 1st timers Tip number 1 Before you go on your Bali holiday, go and exchange $25 US dollars you will need this for you holiday visa entry into Bali.
Tip Number 2 Alcohol Bring your duty free with you, there is a limit of 1 liter per person but alcohol in Bali is quite expensive in Bali due to the taxes.
A bottle of Jim Beam is around $60 and a bottle of Vodka for example is probably around $50 dollars, so bring your Duty Free with you and only 1 litre per person.
Travel Tip Number 3: When you arrive at the Bali airport quickly make your way to the visa counter with your $25 US dollars, and get your visa in done and quickly before the lines, there are going to be over 140 trying to do the exact same thing.
First in best dressed quicker out of that Airport.
Travel Tip number 4: Bag porters they are everywhere and they will grab your bags quicker than lightening to carry them for you But first-timers are recommended not to let them carry your bags, unless you have got something really heavy or lots and lots of bags Because most of the time they will try and rip you off they know the ATM’s in the area mostly only put out $50,000 $100,000 notes which is equivalent to five and ten dollars but really you only need to tip them between 10-20,000 rupiah which is the equivalent of 1 or 2 dollars.
Bali Travel Tip number 5: Travelling short distances around Bali is easy and I would recommend the Blue Bird Group of Taxis so you don’t get ripped off There are copycat taxis that look very similar but they are bound to rip you off or pretend their taxi metre doesn’t work and blah blah blah all these other excuses Remember to always ask them to put the Taxi Metre on.
If they dont have a metre that works then dont get in the taxi its as simple as that and it will make travelling around bali but easier.
Travel Tip number 6 if you’re traveling long distances and there are a group of you then you could hire a Mini Bus driver for the day, which can cost between $30 and $60 for the entire day They will drive you around anywhere, and wait for you while you do your shopping have dinner, meals, drinks, everything.
They will sit and wait for you for between $30 and $60 dollars Most hotels and resorts offer this servi resorts will offer this service but sometimes you can find them cheap out on the street.
Travel Tip number 7 Shopping In Bali you can get some great bargins and lots of cheap stuff, but you can also get ripped off. My biggest tip for 1st times to Bali is DONT buy anything on your 1st day or 2 that your in Bali browse, look and experience what its like to bargin practice bargaining but always walk away without buying.
That way the next day when you do go shopping and want to purchase something you know how low you can get them to go to sell you that product.
If you dont want to do the bargaining but you want to by some nick nacks nick nacks and goodies.
Try the super market and bingtang store because there is no bargaining and the prices there are pretty good and cheap.
Travel tip Number 8 departure you will need one hundred and fifty thousand rupiah for airport taxes when you leave the airport.
Dont forget on day one or the very first day you go and get money or larger amounts of money out put hundred and fifty thousand rupiah away put it in your passport and forget about it until you need it at the airport.
Thats the biggest tip because so many people forget about that and sometimes ATM’s are not right where you need them.
Make sure you break your bigger notes up into smaller notes as soon as possible becasue when your in Bali alot of people pretend they dont have change so they can earn more money out of you.
Well thats it for my tips, if you have any Bali tips let me know what they are down in the comments section and if you enjoyed these Bali Travel tips.

A nice thing from Bali

http://www.kulkulbali.co

Hey there travel bugs, this video will explore 10 fun things to do in the beautiful Bali Indonesia.
We’ll be traveling mostly around central to south of Bali, hitting up areas such as Kuta, Ubud, Uluwatu, and more.
You can see more of what the day-to-day living is like on this beautiful island. Oh and don’t forget to subscribe for more fun, adventurous travel videos around the world. Let’s begin! Many tourists tend to flock to the Kuta region of Bali.
advice is to to get out of there as soon as you arrive but not before doing this worthwhile activity. Bali Sea Turtle Society is an organization that protects sea turtles. In addition to data recording and rescue, they relocate sea turtle eggs to a protected hatchery, away from harm.
Ever few days baby sea turtles are hatched and they open it up to volunteers to release them into the ocean.
“They wouldn’t survive without your help!” “Save the nature! Save the planet! Save the baby turtle!” “Ok, let’s spread to the world: love, peace, and harmony!” “Are you ready?!?” You can find the release information on their Facebook.
It’s free, donations are welcomed and on a first come first serve basis.
Truly such a heartwarming experience to watch your baby sea turtle return home.
Heading to Ubud, one of my favorite regions in Bali, known for its rice paddies and tranquil vibes. If you’re looking to get your hands dirty and have a delicious meal at the same time, take a cooking class! I went to the Jambangan Cooking Class that took you to a local market to learn about local produce and spices.
“You have oyster mushroom soup…but no magic mushroom.” Then we head to the kitchen and whipped up some delicious Balinese dishes such as gado gado.
Even used traditional cooking methods. If you want to kick it up a notch and get into the wild, head over to Ubud Monkey Forest. A truly breathtaking scenery…and hilarious experience when you meet Bali’s wild monkeys.
Watch them eat, climb on people’s heads, and get a little feisty. “OH! Oh it’s biting me! Ah, ah, ah!” My favorite experience being in Bali was heading to the Balinese temple Tirta Empul.
You can actually get an authentic Balinese experience performing purification ritual at the holy water pools.
There’s a right way to do this so be sure to watch the vlog on Tirta Empul. Afterwards you’ll feel refreshed, cleansed, and rejuvenated. Of all the things to do in Bali, I really recommend this one.
Bali is all about going to beaches but there are so many flocked with people, umbrellas, and vendors, it is much more fun to get out there explore and find more secretive ones.
We headed somewhere near Padang Padang Beach, to find a super secluded spot. It’s a trek to get down to but worth it. You’ll be greeted with a shipwreck, soft sand. It’s perfect for a day out tanning and swimming without any people around. Another way is to hangout at a resort, you don’t have to stay there.
This one is called Lo Joya. We just bought lunch and had a few juices and it got us access to their private beach. We had this entire area with caves and rock formations all to ourselves. it was heavenly! Uluwatu Temple is one of Bali’s best sea temples situated by the cliffs.
I love the waves crashing against the cliffs and the magnitude of this temple. It’s the perfect place to catch the sunset. One thing to watch out though, if you thought the Monkey Forest monkeys were naughty, the monkeys here at Uluwatu are even naughtiest.
“Oh my, oh my, oh my goodness!” Hold on to your shiny things. What makes Uluwatu Temple extra special is the Kecak Fire Dance performance held at night. This Balinese dance tells a love story and is performed against a perfect seaside backdrop.
Prepare to laugh and be in awe. Ok so this is one of those Bali activities I thought looked kind of fun and might be lame but turned out ridiculously awesome. Bali Seawalker is an activity that lets you walk underwater with swarms of fishes. No certification required and safe.
I recommend this activity for beginners, people who haven’t really snorkelled yet. After this I couldn’t wait to learn about snorkeling and get back in the water with fishes.
Speaking of fishes, if you want to head straight into snorkeling, Gili Islands is where it’s at. Although not part of Bali, but part of Indonesia, it was recommended to us multiple times by travelers and locals alike.
I explain more about each island in the vlogs but I feel like the best place to snorkel was at Gili Air. You can easily rent snorkeling gear or take a three island snorkeling trip for only eight dollars. Of course for many, many people surfing is even why they are in Bali! The regions you want to head to for surfing are Canggu or Uluwatu.
While I’m not a surfer, I met a lot of people who swears by the waves and beaches in Uluwatu. I mean, look at that. Renting an affordable villa with your friends and relaxing, enjoying the beauty that is Bali.
If you’re coming with a group of friends, or even with your lover, Bali is the perfect place and maybe one of the few places you can rent an incredible place for cheap.
Seriously, this was only thirty dollars per person per night. Crazy, right? While you can book them on Airbnb, some people have also just showed up and looked around the area. But if you prefer the hostel route, that’s alright too! Be sure to rent a scooter and drive through Bali’s lush sceneries.
For beginners, just practice a lot and on roads with not a lot of people.
“I’m gonna dieeeeeeee!” Alright you, I hope you got some good ideas of all the things you can do here in Bali. I cannot wait for you to see this iconic Indonesian paradise.

Bali as the center of the spiritual universe

http://www.indonesia.travel
The island of Bali lies in the center of the Indonesian archipelago, between the islands, of Java and Lombok.
But to the Balinese people, their island is considered the center of the spiritual universe.
Bali has a population of around 4 million people, and is home to Indonesia’s Hindu population.
The Balinese practice the concept of Tri Hita Karana, which seeks to balance the human, natural and spirit worlds.
And it is this sense of harmony which makes Bali more than just a physical destination, but a complete state of mind.
Most first time visitors are drawn to the south of Bali, a region blessed with incredible beaches and world class surf.
Kuta was discovered by the flower children and surfers of the 1960’s. Just a short drive from Bali’s International Airport, and renowned for it’s nightlife and shopping, it’s hard to imagine this was once a sleepy fishing village.
Yet Kuta’s crescent shaped beach still retains a magical quality, casting a spell over sun worshippers from all over the world.
From Kuta, grab your sarong and follow the beach north, to the beaches of Legian, Double Six and Seminyak, where things really mellow out. Step from the sand of Seminyak and into Petitenget Temple.
The temple was built centuries ago, around a simple shrine built to appease troublesome spirits who haunted the area.
Today, Seminyak is a tranquil place, known for its great restaurants and fashion boutiques. Bali has come a long way since it’s days as just a backpacker destination.
Head south from Kuta to the Bukit Penninsula where you’ll find the luxury resort enclave of Nusa Dua, a name synonymous with seclusion and style. On the peninsula’s west side is one of Bali’s finest beaches, Jimbaran.
Towards the end of the day, pull up a chair at one of the seafood restaurants, and experience an incredible spectacle, as Bali’s gods hurl paint across the heavens.
A little further south, and jutting out into the Java Sea is the rock at lands end ~ Uluwatu. Follow the cliff-top pathways to one of Bali’s most important temples, then grab your board and paddle out into Uluwatu’s legendary swells.
Discovering more of Bali is a breeze. Hire a van with driver for the day, or if you’re feeling more adventurous rent a scooter. Not far from the island’s capital, Denpasar, is the Bali Bird Park, a sanctuary to over 1000 birds from all over Indonesia and beyond.
Nearby at the Bali Zoo, see Bali from up high, on the back of a Sumatran elephant.
But it’s even higher, in the foothills, where the true spirit of Bali awaits. Only an hours drive from Denpassar is Bali’s cultural capital, Ubud. Here the streets are lined with stalls and galleries selling the works of local artisans.
To deepen your appreciation of Balinese art, spend a few hours at The Neka Art and Puri Lukisan museums.
Or take a tour through the fabulous private collection of the Arma Museum. Don’t miss the flamboyant home of painter Antonio Blanco ~ The Dali of Bali ~ who’s life’s work was a tribute to the female form.
Ubud is one of Bali’s most popular tourist destinations, but serenity is never more than a few steps away. You’ll find some of Ubud’s most popular residents under the cool canopy of The Sacred Monkey Forest.
A few kilometers away, step through the mouth of a demon into the elephant caves of Goa Gajah. Ubud is surrounded by Bali’s rural heartland, where, apart from the motor scooters, life has changed little for centuries.
As the altitude rises the highlands offer a cool haven. It is here, among the volcanic mountain mists of Kintamani and beyond, that the island’s most revered gods reside.
Down below, the rest of Bali awaits, as well as nearby treasures like Lombok’s, Gilli Islands. Indonesia has thousands of islands to explore.
But few others in this archipelago, or indeed the rest of the world, can match the culture, natural beauty and spirit of Bali.

Indonesian Street Food Tour of Glodok

http://id-blog.zenrooms.com
It is truly a genius of a creation. I’m going to take my first bite. Wow, that rice, it’s like a combination of a rice and omelet. What’s up everyone, it’s Mark Wiens with migrationology.com in Jakarta, Indonesia.
It is mid morning and Ying and I are walking over to Glodok, which is Jakarta’s Chinatown. And actually, we don’t really have any plans of what we’re gonna do there, not really, but we’re just gonna walk around, explore, probably find some street food.
There’s a lot of traffic, as usual, on this road, so that’s why we are walking. We’re going to beat the traffic and we’re gonna explore Jakarta’s Chinatown.
We took the back way to get to Chinatown, through the back streets, but we are definitely in Chinatown now. The whole, it’s still Jakarta, but you can definitely feel that it’s Chinatown.
We passed a couple of Chinese temples already, and you can see some of the old Chinese buildings that are evidence that we are in Chinatown, as well as, I think we’re gonna walk through a market soon, I’ve seen some people carrying lots of bags.
And also, in Chinatown, they also have bicycle rickshaws which are available for transportation. We have gotten to the market section of Glodok. There is a lot of beautiful looking fruits and vegetables.
And actually, this Chinatown kinda reminds me of Bangkok’s Chinatown, Yaowarat, very, a lot of similarities. And it’s a very tight, and busy place. A lot of business and commerce and markets everywhere you look.
We just took a turn down a side alley, this is just a walking alley, and we are in route to a famous coffee shop. I think it’s somewhere down here and maybe to the right.
The market street is a really great atmosphere, but then when you get down on these even side alleys, it’s really quiet back here and really nice.
A lot of people are very friendly, and there are lots of random things for sale. Just look at this quantity of avocados. We’re just walking through the alley, we haven’t made it to the coffee shop yet, but I saw a guy selling siomay from his motorbike.
He had a variety of different things in his steamer, and we kind of just chose a number of different things. I think these are the actual siomay and then there’s some tofu and then he also had one with bitter melon.
I think pork stuffed into bitter melon so I got one of those. And then this is definitely a Chinese style of a dish, but what really makes it Indonesian is that they serve it with peanut sauce.
So, after he finished slicing them all up, he put a big scoop of peanut sauce and then he squeezed on some kecap manis which is sweet soy sauce. And I think that’s kind of a chili sauce on the side there.
So, I’m gonna try one of these first. Dip it into the peanut sauce. Wow, that has a very squishy kind of texture. Almost like mochi glutinous rice texture to it.
And then at the tail end of my bite, then I can taste some sesame oil and maybe a little bit of minced pork. That’s just a straight up piece of tofu with the sweet peanut sauce and a little bit of chili in there as well. I really love bitter melon, it has such a wonderful bitter flavor.
And then it’s juicy and has a, like a cucumber crispness to it. (inaudible) As I was eating that plate of siomay I was standing right across the street from a vegetarian restaurant and the owner here is really nice and he invited us to try some of his all vegetarian Indonesian food.
And what I really want to taste, I think I’m just going to get a small taste, because we might have a lot of, So, he has a whole spread of different Indonesian dishes all vegetarian and the one that I really want to taste is rendang which is one of the most famous Indonesian dishes and it happens to be a favorite of mine, as well, but I have never had a vegetarian version of it.
I didn’t want to order a whole plate of food with rice because I think we still have a lot to eat, so I just got some of the rendang to taste it. This is the rendang vegetarian. What is in the rendang? – Mushroom, we make it out of mushroom, black mushroom.
I could have a mistaken it for chunks of meat definitely. Even on the inside it looks kind of like meat. That looks like a big meatball.
That’s really good, oh wow. It’s like meat but it’s more tender. It almost tastes like pulled beef, but that is all mushroom.
That rendang is delicious actually. It’s a little bit spicy, you can taste the coconut, and these are some kind of spring roll types of things and he said it might taste a little bit like shrimp.
I think that’s bean curd. That’s awesome. That is my kind of vegetarian bite right there, just solid mushrooms, it’s like compressed mushrooms. That was impressively good, especially that rendang.
And, so, if you’re looking for all vegetarian food in Jakarta in Chinatown, it’s right in this lane. And I’m not sure the name of this lane, but that was really good vegetarian food. We finally made it to the famous, legendary coffee shop.
This place is called Kopi Es Tak Kie. It is an old school Chinese Indonesian coffee shop. And it has a lot of history to it, if you look around you can see a lot of photos on the wall and a lot of famous people, I believe, have come here for coffee.
It’s really humid and I decided it would be a good idea to order a hot coffee. Oh, that is a good black cup of coffee. The coffee is so smooth. And I get it sugarless, so it’s just straight up black coffee, but really smooth. It doesn’t have much acid, and just a good, clean chocolatey flavor.
And this an indoor coffee shop and they have a number of different street food stalls that set up right outside the door of this shop, and so you can order street food and then they will deliver it inside so you can sit down at the table as long as you’re ordering drinks and eat the street food from outside.
And one of the options right outside the door is Nasi campur and Nasi campur is actually just means rice and mixed everything.
There’s some crispy pork belly, I think that’s gizzard. This is like boiled chicken. There’s a tiny sliver of an egg.
I think this is the char siu, the roast pork, the roasted barbecue pork. That’s a lot more flavorful than it looked. That rice is really good. And then that pork is very lean and it’s actually quite tender.
But I think it would be improved with some of this chili sauce, let me add that over here. And that’s a little piece of pork belly. And I think that is gizzard, looks like gizzard. That’s like a sour, salty chili sauce.
And then that’s definitely gizzard, it has a very crisp texture to it.and then actually I don’t think that was pork belly, I think it might have been chicken, maybe with a roasted skin. Chase that with some of this soup, and there’s a vegetable in it as well.
It’s a very plain, but very salty soup. And that vegetable is a little bit sour, vinegary, so I think it’s a pickled mustard green or something like that. Dip it into the sauce, that’s like sausage wrapped around the skewer. Okay, it’s pretty sweet.
That was a good coffee break stop and another plate of food and now we are just walking back down the alley. There are so many different choices of foods to eat within this alley.
We took a little walk down the road and they have a lot of street food carts and so I spotted a snack that I wanted to try. It is, there are a lot of different variations of this that I’ve seen all over Southeast Asia.
It’s very similar in cooking style method to a Sri Lankan hopper, but it’s cooked in a little personalized rounded skillet and what he does, the batter is green.
What he does is, he scoops in some batter, kinda sloshes it around and then it cooks. He puts the lid on and then it cooks so that the edges are crispy and then in the center it’s kind of fluffy and kind of like waffle-like. The edges are crispy all the way.
And then the inside is kind of sticky, gooey. It’s sweet and I’m not sure but I think the fragrance might be pandan because of that greeness. And it sort of has a very light, vanilla-y essence.
That’s a very simple, but kind of tasty sweet pancake snack. One of the most common types of street food that you’ll find in Jakarta are deep fried items.
And, so, all over the street you’ll find carts with a big wok full of oil deep frying, an assortment of different things and so for our next street food snack I just ordered a couple of deep fried items.
The first thing I got is a pisang goreng which is a deep fried banana. He took the banana and he kind of sliced it, but then kept the banana all together and kind of made it into a finger/hand shape.
It’s almost like a little glove mitt. How he cut it like this, in strips but keeping the whole thing together, it gives it more surface area for more crunchy batter and I think it’s a pretty cool way to cut a banana for deep frying it.
That is quite a lot of batter. And it’s very crispy and then there’s kind of a lot of batter to banana ratio, but then on the inside is the very sweet and kinda custard-y banana. It’s like a little banana sandwich.
For many of my growing up years, I lived in Africa, in central Africa. And when my family was living in the Democratic Republic of Congo, I used to eat breadfruit all the time.
But then, since I was a child I haven’t had breadfruit very often and even where I live in Thailand, in Bangkok, breadfruit is not very common at all, actually. You can see sometimes on the tree, but it’s very rarely eaten.
So, I was happy to see he has deep fried breadfruit. This is just a big slice of breadfruit deep fried. That brings back some great memories. Breadfruit is awesome. This is just a natural phenomena of a fruit.
It is really like a very starchy, starchy bread. Kinda like a cross between bread and potato. Actually kinda like cassava.
It has that really dry starchiness to it and then this one is just really nicely salted, as well. So, it’s like a salty, silky, bread-y, potato.
And then it does have a little bit of a fruity taste to it. But that’s really heavy. I think partly why I like this so much is because I grew up, when I was a kid, eating this and I have so many memories of breadfruit.
That is such a starchy, it’s delicious actually. I really like it. It’s very heavy and dry. Chinatown’s around the world in different cities are one of my favorite places to explore.
And Chinatown here in Jakarta has been great. There’s a lot of food and a lot of cool places to explore. If you just kind of wander around these alleys. But Ying and I are gonna start heading a little ways North to some of the other historical buildings not too far away from here.
Crossing the street in this area is definitely not the easiest situation, but we gotta cross now. We are in the old historical heritage area of Jakarta now. And there is a lot of traffic in every direction.
We made it to the old area of Jakarta which is called Fatahillah which is the old Dutch colonial area. There are a lot of heritage Dutch buildings in this area.
We’re now in the big square, so we’re just going to walk around here for a little bit and just enjoy the scenery. Within this square, a lot of people are renting very colorful neon bikes and just riding around.
And then there a lot of students, and we met up with a group of students, and they wanted to ask some questions about why we are traveling to Indonesia and what we like about traveling to Indonesia.
And then one of the questions they asked me was why did you guys come to Indonesia? And when I told them that we came to Indonesia to eat, they all thought that was pretty funny.
I wasn’t sure if we were gonna be able to find this one street food snack that I really wanted to try called kerak telor.
And we happened to find it so we got lucky and he is making it right now. It was really genius watching him make it. What he does is, he first takes some raw rice and then puts it into the bottom of the wok.
And then he really heats up the wok, heats up that fire, fans the flames. And then he added a bunch of different seasonings including, I know there’s some coconut and probably some salt, I’m not sure what else.
And then after that he cracked in egg and then mixed it all up until it was like a slushy omelet rice mixture. And the true genius of what he does after that is, he actually flips the wok over, so, you would think gravity would make the entire rice omelet mixture just fall out of the wok, but somehow it stays on the bottom of the wok even thought it’s flipped upside down.
And that’s when he really fans the flames strong so it’s a big fire that comes up to the bottom of the wok there and just kind of scorches that rice and egg mixture. And then once it’s ready, he flips it back over, he scoops it out with a spatula, adds on some more seasoning, including a handful of crispy shallots, sticks it onto a piece of paper and it’s ready.
This is a street food snack that definitely has some history in Indonesia and I know that it was very popular since the colonial Dutch times. And it is truly a genius of a creation. I’m going to take my first bite.
Wow, that rice, it’s like a combination of a rice and omelet. And then there is definitely some coconut in there. But it’s not sweet, just natural coconut, I think. Like dried coconut, it’s a little bit crisp.
But that basically just tastes like a roasted rice egg omelet. It tastes like the bottom of clay pot rice. The crunchy, kind of slightly burnt bottom. So, it has that crispiness, but then with egg mixed in and dried coconut.
I’m really happy that we had a chance to try that final Jakarta street food. It’s kind of a simple combination, but I love the way he makes it.
And part of street food and eating snacks is just enjoying the atmosphere and watching them cook the food right before you. And that is just an absolute genius of a street food snack. I think I enjoyed it more watching the process of it being made than even eating it.
I think that is gonna be the end for today’s video about Jakarta street food. It’s been wonderful walking around. I am just drenched and hot and sweaty to the core, so I think we’re gonna jump in a taxi and head back to our hotel now.
